Since the beginning of time people have been presenting little tokens of appreciation to their hosts, in return for their hospitality. These little tokens symbolized the appreciation for being welcomed and receiving food and shelter.

Today, tourists are visiting many foreign places and regions. Sometimes we tend to forget that we are also guests of the people living in the visited regions. When traveling to foreign places, a tourist automatically uses some of the natural resources and habitat of the host region and its population.

The non-profit organization Fair Travel is now reanimating the idea of the token of appreciation. Fair Travel wants to encourage tour operators and travelers alike to support the people in the visited area by implementing development projects.
